How's Everybody doing today? This is the REV again coming at you from the the place that I call home, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Which to me, is one of the greatest places on this earth to live.

Now ! What I am about to talk about at this time was not what I had planned for my next POT-TALK information issue. But, as in life things have a tendency to change at any time. Before I get to my next story though, I would like to let you know that because I am pro pot, it is not my intention to do what and all that I can for complete legalization and decriminalization of marijuana. Why you ask? Because it simply cannot be done.

Now, don't everybody get in an uproar. I'll explain this as best that I can. Let's take alcohol for a start. Some people would say that alcohol is legal right. In a sense, that is true. BUT ! It is not completely legal. The government, although they control it, can only REGULATE it the best that they can. It is ILLEGAL for others to sell it without a special license allowing them to. You can not drink it openly on the street. That also is ILLEGAL. As is being drunk on the street or intoxicated in a public place. So what do we have? Something that is legal but some aspects of it are ILLEGAL. This is called REGULATION.

Let's take tobacco. Again, the government REGULATES the product as best that they can. Anybody can grow their own, but you cannot sell it to others. It is illegal. Here comes the good part!!! Ha Ha Ha!!! Marijuana. It, is ILLEGAL. Why? Maybe because the government hasn't figured out how they can REGULATE it. They know as well as I do that they can never legalize it and decriminalize it completely. One main reason being, that they also know, that they would never be able to control it as they do cigarettes and alcohol.

And, I believe because of this, they will continue to keep it ILLEGAL. What I think the government should be doing, is seriously start thinking about, respecting the people that they represent and look at the Marijuana situation in a fair and serious manner. They know that they have to do something soon, so start by setting up a REAL COMMITTEE to deal with this issue. Not a PHANTOM one.

Did anybody see a show on Global at 9:P.M. Wednesday, February the 20th called Crimes of Compassion. It was about Marijuana and The B.C. Compassion Club. It was excellent! One part that I remember, is when one-time Health Minister Alan Rock made a statement that there was a committee set up to look at Marijuana being used for Medical purposes. Now, here's a story.

I phoned to speak to someone on the committee and this is what I got. According to Health Canada, where I was directed to phone, there is no actual physical person on the committee to speak to, because it is just in the process of being set up. I then asked why Health Minister Alan Rock made this statement to the people on behalf of the government. All I was told, was that he was not Health Minister anymore. What that had to do with what I asked her I'm not sure, but I let it go. I had my answer already so, I told her to have a nice day and that was that.

And that is why I suggested that the government set up a real committee and not a phantom one as it seems. Gentlemen, you will not, now or ever, be able to control it, legalize it, completely decriminalize it or fully regulate it. Accept that and do what is right and treat it the same as tobacco and alcohol and regulate it as best you can. And, be fair, because you know as well as I do, that some aspects of it could be decriminalized right now if you finally stood up as the honest men and women that you are and did what you know is RIGHT!!!!!

What do you say there folks? Isn't about time that we really started to get this issue resolved? I think so. And with a proper committee, with true representatives from all parties that need to be involved, just remember the story of the little train, and start by saying I think we can, I think we can, and end up saying I know WE can, I know WE can, and let's get it done.

But, that's just my opinion, according to REV. Long life and peace to all.

P.S.: As before, would you be so kind and please pass this along to others.

      THE REV.....
